In this spotlight, we spoke with Justin Hill, Lead Product Specialist at CipherHealth.
What is your role within CipherHealth?

- I help manage our incredible team of product specialists. The product specialist team is responsible for making sure every organization we work with has their questions answered and issues resolved in a timely manner. As a company, we strive to help our clients provide the highest quality patient care. As a product specialist team, we work to ensure that the product is optimized for them to achieve their goals. In addition to working with our customers, we also support our colleagues internally by answering product questions, helping our development team reproduce and squash bugs, and providing technical assistance for our implementation team as they onboard new customers.
Could you walk us through a day in your role?
Every day is a bit different! Since we sit between our customers and our product development team, we obtain lots of customer feedback on our products. We consolidate those suggestions and bring them to our product team so they can make upgrades to our app. Since our app and products change frequently, we have regular meetings to stay up to date with product enhancements. We end every day with a team stand up to review our accomplishments for the day- it’s a great way to make everyone aware of each other’s work.
What is your favorite thing about working at CipherHealth?
We’ve assembled a really special team of passionate people. The people that I have the pleasure of interfacing with every day make working at CipherHealth a true joy. In addition to working with such inspiring and driven team members, my favorite perk is our generous work from home policy that allows you to recharge and be “heads down”, if you prefer. It creates a great work/life balance that enables our team to work the way we work best.
Can you tell us about a fun project you have worked on recently?
Absolutely! We have been busy rolling out new features that allow our customers to easily manage their own users directly with the CipherHealth platform. Working on these features is really great because the value of implementing these improvements is very tangible. It’s both more secure and faster for the customers – a real win/win!
What advice would you give someone just starting out in a healthcare career?
I recommend that you read from thought leaders in the space, like Atul Gawande and Elisabeth Rosenthal. This helps to understand the big and vast opportunities and obstacles in healthcare. Along those lines, focus on one solving problem at a time – it’s easy to get overwhelmed in the healthcare technology space!
And finally, what do you like to do outside of CipherHealth?
I love reading and doing crossword puzzles. I also play skeeball, shuffleboard, and go to trivia nights in NYC (usually with colleagues!).
