Randy Cheung co-founded CipherHealth after working in health care and experiencing firsthand a fundamental gap that was holding the industry back from moving toward more patient-centric care: communication. Also, seeing a need for caregivers to embrace technology the way their patients had, he developed the idea for an SaaS communication platform that connected the two communities at critical points along the care continuum and thus, CipherHealth was formed. Prior to founding CipherHealth, Randy managed business development for MDLand International, a CCHIT accredited electronic medical record (EMR) company located in New York City. He also consulted for Empath Consulting and was in sales at Abbott Laboratories. Randy received his B.A. from UC Berkeley and M.P.H. from Yale University.
Jake has held many executive-level roles at the company starting as the Chief Financial Officer in August 2018 and then added Chief Operating Officer to his responsibilities in March 2019. As of November 2019, he was appointed President of CipherHealth spearheading the day-to-day operations of the company. With more than twenty-five years of financial and operations experience at various software companies, he has a significant amount of experience with managing high-growth technology companies. Prior to CipherHealth, Jake spent four years as CFO at Paradigm Geophysical, leading the company to its eventual sale to Emerson Electric. Prior to Paradigm Geophysical, he was also the CFO for Seismic Micro-Technology, where he managed the sale of the company to InfoMarkit. His background also includes ten years of experience at McAfee Security and BMC Software, where he served in several senior financial and operational roles. Jake holds a B.A. from Southern Methodist University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas.
As a co-founder of CipherHealth, Alex Hejnosz has led the company through significant growth since inception. He is responsible for driving the Company’s Sales teams to bring CipherHealth’s solutions to hospitals and healthcare systems and organizations around the country. Alex also plays a key role in business development by helping to identify and expand strategic partnerships and initiatives for the Company. Prior to starting CipherHealth, Alex researched outcomes and effectiveness at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City and worked on the development of a physician tracking database at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). Additionally, Alex worked for HUP as a certified emergency medical technician. Alex received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
As CipherHealth’s Chief Nursing Officer, Lisa Romano, MSN, RN brings more than 30 years of experience in clinical practice, healthcare IT strategy, and healthcare operations to her current role. Prior to previous CNO roles, Lisa spent 19 years as a nurse and hospital administrator at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in Allentown, PA, where she was responsible for all patient flow and transfer center operations as well as numerous quality and patient satisfaction initiatives. Lisa is passionate about improving the health of patients across the healthcare continuum.
Shawn Lemerise brings over 15 years of experience in healthcare consulting, project management, change management and operations. Shawn leads CipherHealth’s business development efforts, specifically around strategic relationships, channel partnerships and the company’s non-acute growth strategy. Shawn has also been instrumental in the evolution of CipherHealth’s sales and account management strategy. Prior to joining CipherHealth, Shawn led various teams focused on clinical utilization, contracting efficiency and operational redesign at dozens of health systems across the country. Shawn was largely responsible for maintaining the executive relationship across these projects and ensuring the team’s delivery was properly aligned with project goals. Shawn has an M.B.A. from Fordham University and his B.A. in Economics from Wesleyan University.
With more than twenty years of product and engineering experience at various software companies helping to pioneer large-scale e-commerce, online learning, and digital advertising systems, Nate has a breadth of responsibility in both software development and operations. As a leader who values agile software development methodologies, Nate has successfully planned, developed, and executed large-scale projects that have contributed to high-growth success. His background includes experience creating HIPAA Compliant SaaS platforms at both Dabo Health and PatientWisdom where he served as Chief Technology Officer. He served in the US Air Force, and is a Master of Kung Fu San Soo.
Jennifer Compagni is a global HR executive with extensive experience in corporate businesses, research, government, and educational institutions. Before joining CipherHealth, Jennifer worked for five years as the head of HR at SmartLinx Solutions, a growing SaaS company in the workforce management space. Prior to SmartLinx, she ran her own organizational consulting practice, serving a diverse range of clients including Cardinal Health, Alpharma Inc. and The National Research Council of the National Academies. Previously, she was Vice President, Human Resources at Revlon and held HR leadership roles at Warner-Lambert Company (Pfizer, Adams USA), and Antenna Software, where she worked in a job share as the lead HR Generalist for the North America team. Jennifer has also performed research and services for the US Army, Cornell University, the NY State Senate Labor Committee, NY State DMV, Monmouth University, and the Rockefeller School of Public Affairs & Policy, SUNY. She holds a Master of Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University and a B.A. in Economics from Siena College.
Thomas Arena brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience, 15 of which were in high-growth healthcare services and software. He joins CipherHealth with a record of stellar success at companies such as Waystar, SunQuest and Accumen, along with deep industry knowledge. During his most recent tenure at Waystar, Arena led the strategy, structure, and direction for the North America national health system and hospital sales teams, where he drove significant increases in recurring revenue from the largest health systems, along with designing and implementing a new sales model and cross-functional customer engagement model. As a new member of CipherHealth’s Executive Team, Arena will be a key driver in the development and execution of the Company’s strategic and financial plans. During his most recent tenure at Waystar, Arena led the strategy, structure, and direction for the North America national health system and hospital sales teams, where he drove significant increases in recurring revenue from the largest health systems, along with designing and implementing a new sales model and cross-functional customer engagement model. As a new member of CipherHealth’s Executive Team, Arena will be a key driver in the development and execution of the Company’s strategic and financial plans.
Chris Aulbach, brings more than 20 years of senior leadership experience, 15 of which were directly within the healthcare tech industry, working with multiple equity-backed ventures that served large health systems globally. With a proven track record of leading successful product and go-to-market teams at growth-oriented HCIT companies such as Allscripts and Evariant, Chris has a history of advancing world-class product management practices at growth companies. Most recently, he served the corporate strategy team at Cognizant, where he helped transform the company’s portfolio-centric GTM, establishing new practices and models in how it defined, packaged, sold, and delivered industry-leading, repeatable solutions across multiple verticals.
Chris serves on Cipherhealth's Executive Team as a key driver in the development and execution of the company’s strategic and product priorities, including spearheading product strategies involving customer experience, product life-cycle management, ROI measurements, data analysis, as well as identifying emerging trends and avenues for maximizing the customer value and outcomes of existing product lines, among other responsibilities.
Jim Somers, brings over 25 years of senior leadership experience to CipherHealth, with a focus on SaaS technology across a wide array of IT sectors, including unified communications and collaboration (UCC), mobilily, marketing automation and cyber-security. Jim’s range of knowledge has made him instrumental in driving marketing at startup companies, as well as making him a strategic growth agent at larger publicly-traded companies. Most recently, Jim served as the Head of Marketing for LogMeIn’s Unified Communications & Collaboration business unit, where he was instrumental in launching the new GoTo brand and product portfolio, including GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar, as well as the latest GoToConnect and GoToRoom products.
Jim serves on Cipherhealth's Executive Team and heads up the company’s marketing strategy, supporting increased revenue, awareness and relevance to CipherHealth’s target markets. He also contributes handily in positioning CipherHealth as a thought-leader in the market and presenting the company as they enter into new markets.
