BACKGROUND
A major academic medical center based in California used CipherOutreach to help schedule patients for COVID-19 vaccination appointments and provide education related to vaccine hesitancy. A key challenge identified by the team was low engagement through online portals like MyChart. Additionally, manual outreach was labor-intensive and yielded low results. The on-demand messaging program allowed the medical center to scale by removing the need for manual outreach, while proactively securing vaccine appointments with patients. Ultimately, the goal was to fill as many appointments as quickly as possible for eligible patients and provide targeted education to vulnerable populations who would otherwise not accept the vaccine, while leveraging technology for enhanced workflows.
