I have had many outstanding experiences with nurses. One of the very best centers around my son Connor. He was born with a bone condition that results in him fracturing a lot easier than the average person. He has had several major fractures over his 20 years, including 5 femur fractures, which were the worst. We worked with physicians at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia to get him a medication protocol to help preserve his bone, making it more sturdy and less likely to fracture. The medication required quarterly administration over three days, plugged into an IV for 4-5 hours a day. This was done at CHOP in their day medicine department with the most lovely nurses attending to Connor and lots of other kids requiring similar treatments.
So every three months, Connor spent 15 hours getting IV medication over a few years, and enjoyed it – due to the kindness, respect, and loving care provided by the nurses there. They would have him laughing, telling stories, and really be interested in him, which was such a blessing to our family. The good news is that Connor now has graduated to a treatment that only requires a 45 min infusion every six months, which is done in Boston where he is a student at BU. These treatments have helped him immeasurably. We will always remember the nurses there as members of our family.
My hope is that we can work to get them as a Cipher client in the future so they will be part of our Cipher family as well!
