CipherSalutes: “Where Words Fail, Music Speaks”

teen orchestra

In the days leading up to Nurses Week (May 6 – 12), CipherHeath will be running a series of “CipherSalutes” from our team members, demonstrating the unique ways they and their families are expressing their gratitude and appreciation for nurses. We hope they inspire you to reach out to the front-line healthcare workers in your community to let them know how much they are valued.

As COVID-19 continues to spread globally, we are in awe of the heroic efforts of healthcare providers who are putting themselves and their loved ones at risk.

While healthcare workers courageously fight the virus from the frontlines, the rest of us remain safe at home. We study the news in earnest – searching for a glimmer of hope but most importantly, trying to be part of the global effort to help one another.

Separated by walls, we are all united by our deep feeling of appreciation toward the frontline heros. All around the world, people are organizing to help, support, and to simply say thank you. From singing on balconies in Italy to the nightly clapping in New York City to companies that diverted their supply chains to producing PPE and ventilators, we share the same hope for the future. Ultimately, we will get through this crisis together, stronger than before.

As Hans Christian Andersen once said, “Where words fail, music speaks”. In this spirit, my daughter Zoe organized a virtual concert with a group of fellow musicians to express their gratitude toward healthcare workers all around the world. Zoe shares, “It started off as us just wanting to play music for each other, but then we decided to make it bigger than just us, and so we dedicated it to the people who need it most.”

We hope this brings you a few moments of joy in this difficult time.
