Lisa Romano, CNO of Cipherhealth, my guest for May 18, 2020 and I met in the Fall of 2019, long before anyone was even thinking or a novel coronavirus. When we were actually able to connect for the show, it became apparent that Lisa’s career led her to the right place, right time to play a hero’s role in the COVID-19 crisis. She had been working with hospitals for years to create streamlined IT processes in rooming, moving/discharging, cleaning, and re-rooming patients. Little did she know, having this knowledge, as well as newer work freeing nurses from needing to report results of tests & discharge instructions to patients, put her hospitals in a perfect position to quickly realize the size and spread of the coronavirus. This data allowed them to make plans to prepare for the coming coronavirus.
