CipherHealth Celebrates Top Nursing Talent through the 2017 Nurses Awards

NEW YORK, May 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — CipherHealth, a technology company focused on improving the healthcare experience, has always prioritized helping nurses since its inception. Last year, the company launched the Outstanding Patient Care Award to show their immense appreciation for nursing teams across the country. However, to diversify appreciation, the company introduced two new categories for 2017 submissions: Inspiring Nurse Leader Award and Excellence in Clinical Care Award.

“Ultimately, this is why we do what we do”, said Kate Huber, Senior VP of Product at CipherHealth. “Nurses are pillars of the community and every CipherHealth employee comes in everyday knowing that we are supporting wonderful people that work hard to save lives.”

However, it’s not only CipherHealth employees that find the Nurses Awards to be worthwhile. It’s no secret that nurses simply don’t get thanked enough for their hard work. CipherHealth aims to alleviate this issue by encouraging nurses to nominate those they have worked closely with, thereby increasing staff satisfaction.

For example, the Patient Care Director from New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Hospital nominated the entire Neonatal ICU team for the Outstanding Patient Care Award. She reflected on a letter she once received from the parents of two twin boys that spent considerable time at the NICU. Part of the letter stated, “The impact that they have had on our lives is truly immeasurable. It would take me hours to list out every single amazing thing they did for my family over the past couple of months including random acts of kindness that I will treasure for the rest of my life that they probably didn’t think twice about before doing.”

In addition, the awards also congratulated individual nursing efforts. Marisa Peikert, a med-surg RN from Baylor Scott & White Taylor Hospital in Texas stated, “Receiving the Excellence in Clinical Practice Award after being nominated by my supervisor is such an honor. It makes me feel valued as an employee and thankful that I’m finally working for an organization that truly allows me to make a difference and positively impact people’s lives.”

Amanda Kidd, the Senior Director of Shared Governance and Interim Critical Care at Carilion Clinic in Virginia, was nominated by the Chief Nursing Officer at her hospital. After finding out that she had won the Inspiring Nurse Leader Award, she stated, “It’s such a huge compliment, because our CNO has such high standards. So this nomination speaks volumes to how strong I am and what I can bring to our team.”

Overall, the CipherHealth Nurses Awards aim to bring nurses more recognition, as they take care of our sick, help our injured, and assist families and friends through difficult times. In addition, the need for appreciation awards is evident, as hospitals and health systems across the country submitted nominations for a total of 136 submissions, growing the awards by over 200% from the previous year. CipherHealth hopes that these awards continue to encourage more acts of recognition and gratitude to celebrate the work of the nursing community.
