This post is a part of our new employee spotlight series. In this series, we have various members of the CipherHealth team share their experiences, advice, and personal interests. For more information on how you can join our team, visit our careers page.

In this spotlight, we spoke with Alicia Yang, Product Manager at CipherHealth.

What is your role within CipherHealth?

As a product manager for our report platform, my role is to collaborate with cross-functional teams such as accounts, sales, and developers to build and execute upon our roadmap for CipherHealth’s data platform. In a nutshell, I help the internal team and customers drive action through data by helping to ensure our data is accurate, visual, and easy to understand. Prior to my current role, I served as a senior customer success manager where my job was to work hand in hand with our customers and help them achieve their organizational goals.

Could you walk us through a day in your role?
Although no two days are exactly alike, I typically start with our product stand up. This is where developers and product managers talk about how to meet our goals and overcome any technical obstacles of challenges. Throughout the day I then meet with our customer success team and even our customer to gather feedback and educate and train various stakeholders on how to get the most out of our platform. Finally, on a day to day basis I help the team prioritize feature requests that come from our customers or team members and then translate those features into technical requests for the developers.

What is your favorite thing about working at CipherHealth?
The smart, passionate, and driven people! I have been with the company for about five years and have really enjoyed being able to learn from everyone around me.

Can you tell us about a fun project you have worked on recently?
Right now the reporting team is hard at work enhancing our interactive dashboards. This project has been really exciting because it is an opportunity to listen to and take action on the feedback from the team. It is allowing us to help answer the questions clients are asking of their patient engagement programs. Throughout this project, I have really enjoyed seeing the iterative process of making improvements that will deliver more valuable and actionable insights to our customers.

What advice would you give someone just starting out in a healthcare career?
When working in healthcare technology, you have to always keep the end user in mind. This means understanding the common challenges patients and care providers face and working towards making it better. Not only does this help keep perspective, but it ensures that what you create is valuable and will deliver results.

And finally, what do you like to do outside of CipherHealth?
I live in San Francisco and love to take advantage of all of the great activities throughout the city. I specifically enjoy playing tennis, watching cooking shows, and then cooking new kinds of food!
