NEW YORK, June 11, 2025 — CipherHealth, a leading healthcare technology company, has recognized exceptional nurses across the country with its 2025 Nurses Week Awards.
The awards are presented to those nurses who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of patients and families on a daily basis. Out of more than 50 nominees, recipients were chosen in each of three categories: Inspiring Nurse Leader, Excellence in Clinical Practice, and Outstanding Patient Care.
The recipients of the 2025 CipherHealth Nurses Awards are:
1. Inspiring Nurse Leader Award
Katherine Keenan, BSN, RN, PCCN, Assistant Nurse Manager, Lenox Hill Hospital
“Since stepping into the role of Assistant Nurse Manager, Katherine has quickly distinguished herself as an exceptional leader. Katherine balances both clinical and administrative responsibilities with ease. She efficiently coordinates unit throughput, monitors patients for necessary tests, leads interdisciplinary rounds (IDRs) with our multidisciplinary team, and addresses unit and patient experience concerns. She does all of this with unwavering enthusiasm, often going above and beyond to ensure that both staff and patients feel valued and supported.
A testament to her commitment to staff well-being is her innovative ‘Katie’s Corner Café,’ a mobile cart stocked with treats, tea, coffee, and stress-relief items, providing a much-needed morale boost during challenging shifts. She has also spearheaded multiple engagement and recognition programs, including ‘JOY at Work’ and ‘Get to Know 5 Uris’ picture boards, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the team. Katherine’s leadership has significantly enhanced both team cohesion and the overall work environment”
– Giselle Melendez, EdD, RN, NE-BC, Director, Patient Care, Lenox Hill Hospital and Kathleen Devine, BSN, RN, Nurse Manager, Patient Care, Lenox Hill Hospital
2. Excellence In Clinical Practice Award
Jennie Kim, MSN, RN, CCRN, CPAN, RN PeriOp Services, Clinical Educator at Inova
“Jennie has been a central figure in numerous key initiatives, including serving as a super-user for MSET carts, LAST kit redesign, stroke education, and moderate sedation. In each of these roles, she has applied her clinical acumen and dedication to patient safety in order to ensure best practices are upheld and sustained. Her relentless commitment is evident in her willingness to provide education across all shifts—day, night, and overnight—ensuring that every nurse has access to the tools and knowledge necessary to provide exceptional care. Jennie is a wealth of knowledge for her entire clinical team. She actively shares research findings and evidence-based practice innovations with peers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Her dedication to translating research into practice has led to measurable improvements in patient care and has positioned her as a trusted and inspiring resource within her nursing colleagues.”
– Deborah Fulbrook, Ed.M., MHS, BSN, RN, NEA-BC, VP Nursing, CNO at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital
3. Outstanding Patient Care Award
Shannon Savage, Registered Nurse at North Shore University Hospital
“Shannon routinely is assigned to incredibly sick patients in the Surgical/Trauma/Transplant ICU as a leader on nights and as an outstandingly skilled nurse. If a patient is crashing, you want Shannon in the room, because she will recommend every single intervention accurately, as a CCRN RN. But, the one thing I really want to highlight about her care as an RN is that she will always find the time to give her patients the absolute best bath so that they can be as comfortable as possible, no matter what goes on. As Shannon says, ‘it doesn’t matter what a patient is going through, everyone deserves to have their hair washed at night.’ She is an outstanding nurse, and her clinical expertise combined with her passion for maintaining the gold standard for patient care is what makes her deserving of the Outstanding Patient Care Award.”
– Max Amestegui, BSN, RN, TCRN, Assistant Nurse Manager at North Shore University Hospital
“The incredible commitment and compassionate care shown by nurses in every nomination is truly inspiring,” says Joy Avery, MSN, RN, SVP of Clinical Services at CipherHealth. “These awards are a powerful reminder that our efforts directly support these real-life heroes as they carry out their vital work.”
Congratulations to the nurses whose work improves the lives of so many, every day.
